Feb-05 Excellence in Safety Management
Going in to the year
2005, CES has
logged it’s 4th Consecutive year of Perfect Safety with OSHA.
Since
new management assumed leadership in 2000, Neither CES or it’s project
subcontractors have had one recordable incident. This is the
result of
increased safety training and the utmost care that safe work practices
are adhered to. Keep up the good work, guys!

CES has recently completed a large Electrical
Resistive Heating pilot
remediation study at a confidential site in Georgia. 40,000 pounds of
contamination were removed in just 4 months of operations. Dissolved
phase benzene concentrations exceeded the study objectives by a factor
of four, when they were lowered to an maximum of 100 ppb.

CES
used Six Phase Heating to tackle a large site containing TCE
DNAPL. A letter
from the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality states "We are very
encouraged at the apparent success of this technology in addressing
what is typically a highly intractable problem." The letter goes
on to say "The performance monitoring data suggest that contaminant
concentrations are below EPA drinking water maximum contaminant levels
(MCLs) at most of the monitoring points.

Heating Beats Out RF Heating in Side By Side Demonstration.
Article
EPA Tech Trends, May 2000
Overall,
this treatability study found that soil heating is cost-effective when
remediating compounds with low volatility and where biodegradation is
the primary treatment mechanism. Additionally, six-phase heating was
found to be more cost-effective than radio frequency heating in large
areas due to its lower equipment costs and ability to treat a larger
area at one time.
